Gwinin Gives:

Inaugural Back to School Event

As a sponsored photographer, I had the privilege of volunteering at the Gwinin Gives Inaugural Back to School Event in Herbert Von King Park on Aug 20th, 2017. This event aimed to provide school supplies and backpacks to children in need, and I was responsible for capturing the excitement on the parent's and children's faces as they received their new school supplies.

The event was full of energy and enthusiasm, with children eagerly picking out their new backpacks and school supplies, while enjoying carnival food and games. Local music legends and mainstream celebrities put on a show, and community organizations and officials came together in solidarity and support.

My lens captured the sweet essence of communal love as families and children interacted with other volunteers and organizers, participating in activities. One of the highlights for me was taking portraits of the children with their new backpacks. Seeing the pride and joy on their faces was truly heartwarming, and I felt privileged to capture these moments for them.

Overall, my experience as a sponsored photographer and volunteer was incredibly rewarding. It was inspiring to witness the impact that a simple act of kindness, like providing new school supplies, can have on a child's life. As a photographer, being able to capture these moments and help tell the story of the event was a privilege. I look forward to future opportunities to use my skills for good causes and make a positive difference in my community.
